American Songwriter Lyric Contest
So last week I entered the American Songwriter Lyric Contest. Entering contests is not something I normally do, but every once in a while I’ll get cocky and think I have a legit chance to win something.
This particular contest is judging songs based solely on the merits of the lyrics. I entered 4 songs, and I’ll the you, the reader, decide what sort of chance I have.

National Suicide Prevention Day
Today is national suicide prevention day. According to the World Health Organization, nearly 800,000 people a year take their own lives. There have been people in my family who were victims of depression and suicide.
The important thing to know is that if you are currently feeling suicidal or if you know someone who you fear may be suicidal is that there is treatment available, and all is truly not lost. If you are the former, I strongly urge you to contact the Suicide Prevention Lifeline or call 1-800-273-8255 or 1-888-628-9454 for support in Spanish. There is also the TrevorLifeline that offers suicide prevention support for the LGBTQ comunity at 866-488-7386.
